Children and Youth at MPC
Kids in Worship
Children are an important part of this congregation and are always welcome to attend worship with their parents. They generally attend the early part of the service with their families before being dismissed to their classes following a brief Children's Message. While in worship, parents are encouraged to help their children follow along in the bulletin so they begin to understand the different parts of the service. There are children's Bibles, children's bulletins, and crayons provided in the back of the sanctuary for kids needing to be engaged in other ways. Many of our MPC kids enjoy serving regularly as worship leaders, too!
Sunday Morning Classes
Following the Children's Message during our 10:30 Sunday service, children ages preschool to 8th grade are dismissed to one of three classes. (Nursery care is offered throughout worship for our youngest children.)
We have two BLAST classes for children (BLAST stands for Bible Learning And Singing Too!) and one class for middle school youth.
BLAST Junior: This class is for children under the age of 5 in preschool or preK. This classroom is located in a small room connected to the nursery. Our Blast Junior kids join their teacher for a short time of singing, Bible stories, and prayer before then being allowed time to play freely or to do a simple craft.
Big BLAST: Our Kindergarten through 4th grade children meet downstairs and begin class with a lively time of singing and sharing news from their lives, which we call "Campfire.” This is followed by a quieter time of focused Bible study and a short, animated video that depicts the Bible lesson of the day. We end the class with "Stations" during which the kids have a chance to choose their own favorite activity.
CONNECT: meets at least twice a month and is for children in 5th-8th grade. This class uses games, Bible study, videos and many other methods to help our growing youth deepen their faith.
